How to register a trademark for Building Materials

Check if a Mark is Available.

The first step in the process of registering a trademark is to check if your desired mark is available. You can do this by using the Trademark Electronic Search System (TESS), which is a free service provided by the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO). To use TESS, you will need to create an account and have your own username and password. This can be done through the USPTO website. Once you have created an account and logged in, it’s time to search for marks that are currently in use or registered with the USPTO.

To conduct a search on TESS:

  • Enter information related to your business into fields such as “Trademark,” “Entity Name,” “Concept Type” (e.g., product or service name), “Word Mark” or “Design Name,” etc., according to what type of mark you wish to register;
  • Select any additional search parameters such as “Date of Use” or “Date Filed”;
  • Click Search;

File a Trademark Application Online.

  • Fill out the online application form.
  • The first step is to fill out a trademark application online by filling in all the required fields on the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) website. These include information like your name, address, and contact information; what type of mark you are registering; how much it will cost (this depends on whether you are filing as an individual or business); and the goods or services that will be covered by your trademark registration. Once you submit all this information and pay any applicable fees, you should receive an e-mail confirmation within 10 minutes with instructions to continue processing with payment through PayPal or a credit card.
  • Pay your application fee via PayPal or credit card. Once your application has been submitted with all necessary data included, it must be paid for before USPTO can begin processing it further into a full registration certificate (or certificate of registration). You have several options when deciding how much money should go towards this process.
  • You can use PayPal’s standard payment system which allows users to pay using their bank accounts directly over the Internet by simply transferring funds into another user’s account balance without having direct access themselves; however, some low-income individuals may not have access at home so they might prefer instead keeping things traditional where possible by making use of credit cards instead!

Protect your Trademark After Registration.

Maintain your Trademark Registration.
